Why Do You Believe the Bible?
When many people answer that question they point to the fact that the Bible makes sense to them. It makes sense of the life they live and of the lives they see others live. We live in a world full of wickedness. That is clear. The Bible has an explanation for that. We also live in a world full of beauty. The Bible has an explanation for this, too.
I've drawn on this type of reasoning myself in defending the Bible (even though I know Spurgeon warned against this!). In any event, I was very interested to read how B. B. Warfield argued that some things we understand naturally are used to make sense of what we understand as a direct result of God's supernatural revelation. In other words, general revelation contributes to our acceptance (humanly speaking) of special revelation. Warfield put it his way (this is from page 7 of the first volume of the Baker edition of Warfield's Works:
Without special revelation, general revelation would be for sinful men incomplete and ineffective, and could issue, as in point of fact it has issued wherever it alone has been accessible, only in leaving them without excuse (Rom. i. 20). Without general revelation, special revelation would lack that basis in the fundamental knowledge of God as the mighty and wise, righteous and good, maker and ruler of all things, apart from which the further revelation of this great God's interventions in the world for the salvation of sinners could not be either intelligible, credible or operative.
It sounds to me like Warfield is saying general revelation provides us the context to make sense of special revelation. For example, I read that God is good, holy, powerful, etc. That resonates with my soul because I experience God's goodness, holiness, and power through what can be seen. This does not make general revelation sufficient for a saving knowledge of God. Of course not; because of our sin, there is only enough knowledge of God in creation to damn us. However, it is still true that God, in his grace, uses general revelation to help special revelation make sense.

I have being toying with the same idee. Read some of Warfield stuff, maybe I got it from him. Just glad to see I'm not to far off.
Myself I do believe in the Bible because like you said at the start, it does make sense to me, we have thousands of small things happening around us all the time, we see things that happens in a way that is almost impossible to not think "okay there's someone making this happen" and when you think about that the Bible is the only book that really holds the explanation.
I liked your post, made me think...
btw, I just made a blog myself also to discuss a little about GOD and share experiences, if anyone is interested the address is:

Hi, the honest answer to why I believe is- He made me. He called me and saved me. He filled me with His Spirit and because of it I believe.
Yes, I agree with you. I believe and eventhough I haven't seen, I have faith. He said blessed is he who heve not seen but believes. That's why I believe what the bible have said.

Well Bob, unlike these other sneaker fiends or you perhaps I don’t have 250 pairs stashed in my closet. I come from a family that believes if you want, you earn it. Much like the Americans dream. So for that reason the only pair of sneaks is the ones that I have earned. So since I started making money I have copped every pair of Jordan
