9Marks Journal: Counseling (Revista 9Marcas: La Consejería)

We know counseling isn’t easy. Polls show that most pastors prefer the pulpit to the counselor’s chair. Not only are the problems people bring intractably complex and heart-rending, they consume vast quantities of time. Yet we hope this issue of the 9Marks Journal will encourage you, pastor, to look for ways to bring counseling into your local church. We want to encourage pastors and church leaders to think about how they can develop a culture in their congregations where troubled believers can find biblical answers within from the same local church.

In this 9Marks Journal we provide articles on specific topics to help think biblically about common problems faced by believers and non-believers today. We do not believe that the content of this 9Marks Journal is exhaustive, but we are confident that it will be useful. The apostle Peter wrote that God «has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of him who called us to glory and virtue» (2 Peter 1:2). It is with this conviction that we provide this resource, knowing that God’s answers remain relevant to the man and woman of the 21st century.
