Understanding the Great Commission (대위임령)

God means to fulfill the Great Commission through local churches.

How did the apostles and the churches of the New Testament obey the Great Commission? By gathering Christians together in churches. The church is God’s plan for evangelism, discipleship, and the Great Commission. This connection between the Great Commission and the church dramatically impacts how both leaders and members should think about their work of making disciples. We do it together.

교회를 삶의 중심으로 한 각 구성원이 교회에 대한 기본적인 이해를 가지도록 쓰인 9Marks의 ‘교회 기초 시리즈'(Church Basics) 여섯 권 중 하나이다. 복음을 전하고 지키며 교회를 전하고 지키라는 예수님의 명령을 어떻게 감당해야 할지 기본적인 원리를 가르쳐 주는 시리즈 중 첫 번째로 발간되는 책이다.

특히 이 책은 저자가 1장에서 밝히듯, “대위임령과 그것이 그리스도인의 삶에서 어떤 의미인지 이해하도록” 도우며 그것이 “지역 교회 개척과 성장을 중심으로 이루어진다는 것을 설명하는” 목적으로 쓰였다. 성경에는 없지만 예수께서 승천하시며 우리에게 주신 마지막 명령을 가리키는 말인 “대위임령”(The Great Commission)에 대해 지은이는 의미론적, 주해적, 조직신학적 분석과 그에 대한 설명 및 적용을 이해하기 쉬운 말로, 그렇지만 중심 내용은 고스란히 보전하여 명료하게 전달한다.
