The Lord’s Supper isn’t just something churches do together, it’s something that binds us together, making many into one. 교회 기초시리즈(Church Basic Series) 세 번째 책이다. 교회 기초시리즈는 성도들이 꼭 알아야 할 6가지 주제인 침례(세례), 주의 만찬, 대위임령, 교회지도자, 회중의 권위, 교회의 권징를 다루고 있다. 서문에서 밝히고 있듯이 본서를 포함해 교회 기초시리즈 전체는 일반 교인들을 위해 쓰였다. 시리즈 전체의 중요한 전제는 성도의 삶이란 교회를 중심으로 사는 삶이라는 것이다. 주목할 점은 6가지 주제의 행위 주체가 ’교회 공동체‘라는 점을 강조하고 있다는 것이다.

본서는 주의 만찬에 대한 성경의 가르침을 살펴보며, 요약하고 종합해준다. 성경적 조망을 통해 주의 만찬의 의미와 그 영향력을 제시한다. 또한, 주의 만찬 인도자, 참여자의 조건, 시행 방법 그리고 개인적인 참여 방법과 같은 실천적인 내용도 제공한다.
