Who should lead church services?
Generally speaking, elders or spiritually trustworthy men who are on their way to being elders should lead services.
- Elders should lead church services. Elders are the men who are entrusted with the teaching and spiritual oversight of the church. Therefore it is appropriate for them—any of them, not just the “senior pastor”—to lead the church in corporately worshipping God.
- Spiritually trustworthy men who are on their way to being elders should lead church services. One efficient way to train men for ministry is to have them lead public services from time to time. Such men should be spiritually mature enough to be examples for the congregation and doctrinally mature enough to reliably instruct the congregation.
