1.) Read the sermon passage during the week. Begin to jot down several observations, questions, and insights about the passage that you glean from personal reading and meditation.
- What does this passage say about God the Father? About Jesus? About the Holy Spirit? Salvation?
- What appears to be the “main idea” of this passage? How did you come to that conclusion?
- What are a few points of application that you believe can be made from this passage? How did you glean those “action” points?
- What are questions you have about this specific passage? (Try to do your best to find the answers or ask others for guidance.)
2.) Now after listening to the sermon on Sunday, did you feel your personal studies lined up with what the preacher taught? If so, which ones? Be as specific as you can be.
3.) After listening to the sermon, did you disagree with anything specifically he SAID (content wise, not delivery or manner of HOW he said it)? If so, write down comments and have Scripture to back up your argument.
4.) Were you challenged or convicted by anything said in the sermon? If so, what specifically?
5.) What were helpful insights, illustrations, questions, applications, etc. that stood out to you personally from the sermon?
6.) After listening to the sermon, how do you think you will apply at least 1–3 points, principles, or exhortations from the sermon you just heard?
