Lamar Baptist Church

July 5, 2019

We aim to take church membership seriously, and truly keep up with our congregation, caring and shepherding them. 4 distinctives (from our website):

1. We love God’s Word.
We love opening the Bible, and letting God speak for himself. As much as possible, we dig deep into what the Bible actually says, and we love to help people in this endeavor no matter their level of expertise. Even if you’ve never opened a Bible in your life, we’d love to open it with you! We can’t worship a God we don’t know, and we get to know Him through His Word.

2. We love those of all Nations.
We love that the Gospel isn’t just for a particular nation or people group. We strive to have all nations come around Jesus in our church. You’ll likely meet people from all over the world, and hear songs, prayers, and testimonies in different languages than your own. We hope this is a very small glimpse of what the new heavens and the new earth will be like, where those “from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages” will gather to worship the Lamb (Rev. 7:9).

3. We love those of all Generations.
We don’t consider children the future of the church. We believe they ARE the church. Similarly, we don’t believe the elderly are the church’s past; they too ARE the church. We desire those of all ages not only to be in our church, but also to be fostering meaningful relationships that spur on those of all ages!

4. We love our Communities.
We serve our schools. We love our neighborhoods. We desire to be part of seeing our cities flourish. We’re part of our local businesses. We want to be the light of Christ, and this means serving and being generous with our time, money, and energy!
