Providence Baptist Church

March 23, 2011

It began as an idea over dinner in 1978 when 12 families gathered together to follow a vision given by the Lord. Today, with more than 2,500 members, Providence Baptist Church continues to follow that vision.

In the early years, Providence held their services at a local elementary school. They moved two more times within the Raleigh, NC area before finding their current home at the old Crown Royale Hotel on Glenwood Avenue. The hotel, which had undergone major improvements before going bankrupt, had a convention hall (current worship center), a small amphitheater, a restaurant, two commercial kitchens, small meeting rooms and more than 300 guest rooms.

After church members spent four months sorting linens, moving mattresses, doing construction work and cleaning hundreds of bathrooms, the first worship service in our current location was held in January, 1992.

The name Providence Baptist Church was decided on to denote the promise and vision that had come from the Lord. We continue to thank and praise Him for His tender care of His children.

At Providence Baptist Church, we believe God calls each of us to be engaged in a passionate pursuit of Jesus Christ. There is no higher calling than to seek the Lord with a whole heart, fully engaged so that we might glorify Him.
