If you’ve spent any time in 9Marks’ circles, you might have heard a slight note of skepticism around the topic of programs or church ministries. The note is played because we’re dedicated to the whole church gathering and the ordinary means of grace, and we don’t want anything to distract from that.
That said, children’s ministries, youth ministries, other age-specific ministries, small groups, and gender-specific ministries can do good discipling work. So how can churches employ them well? For a church that wants to keep the main gathering primary in its discipleship and life together, what are the hallmarks of healthy ministries?
We asked a host of pastors for their wisdom. We pray their experience might serve you.
